Hourglass Ambient Bronzer Luminous Bronze Light (Review/Swatch)

Hourglass Ambient range has always worked for me. The Hourglass Ambient Powders and Ambient lighting blushes have been my favorites and they are genuinely wonderful products.

An illuminating bronzer with Photoluminescent Technology, featuring bronze pigments that deliver a natural-looking, sunkissed glow while flaunting depth and dimension.

Ambient Bronzer’s sheer, airy formula sweeps softly onto skin for a healthy-looking, radiant finish. It’s formulated with Photoluminescent Technology, featuring optically transparent particles that transform the look of skin by manipulating and refracting light to emphasize your best features. The optically transparent particles allow for seamless blending and color transitions. The powders, blended by hand using an advanced miscelare technique, offer the perfect balance of pigments in a gorgeous pattern. Use this bronzer alone, or paired with Ambient Lighting Powder for maximum control to create depth and dimension—or even use it for a subtle contouring effect.

I was very excited about the Hourglass Ambient Bronzer release and when I saw them at my local Sephora during the VIB Rouge Event, I knew I had to have one. These come in two colors. Luminous Bronze Light and Radiant Bronze Light. Both have warm undertones. I chose the color Luminous Bronze Light which is meant for Fair to Medium complexion. The SA applied it on my face with a huge brush and it gave my skin life and I mean literally life!

Now I am not a very pale person to begin with, but winters can make any one appear lifeless! This bronzer gave such a wonderful and luminous glow as well as hint of color to my face that looked very natural. Everything looks really beautiful under those Sephora lights, but the radiant looks of this was noticed by my husband and a friend who met me at the mall.

I didn't wanted to review it based on just one or two applications. I thought I would play around with it for sometime and then give my two cents.

Color: As per the website Luminous Bronze Light is described as a medium tan shade fused with Luminous Light, a champagne pearl powder. I pretty much see the same in pan. A champagne colored powder with light tan veins and sheen. The bronzer is very pigmented and on swatching it showed soft golden shimmers. It has warm undertone to it.

Texture and Consistency: Super soft, silky, smooth, light weight, finely milled powder with light golden sheen. It is not powdery or dusty.

Scent: None detected.

Application: Less is more with this product. The color is pigmented and buildable. I apply this with a big, not very dense brush. Layering the product and then building it is my way to get a good result. It is very easy to blend and even though there were shimmers on hand swatch, on the face it transformed magically to a satiny sheen.

Effect on the face: Absolutely stunning! It did not emphasize the pores not made me look orange. The shimmers were magically transformed to a satiny sheen and luminous glow. This is not metallic or frosty at all. The appearance is natural and does not look powdery on my dry skin.

Longevity: This lasted on my dry skin for good 6-8 hours. It did not fade nor oxidize to a dark color on me.

Packaging: The container is plastic with shiny, metallic finish. It has a mirror as well. It snaps shut and is easy to open and travel with.

Verdict: This is a stunning, but pricey bronzer. Usually I don't contour for a chisled cheek bone look often but when I do, I prefer a matte bronzer. I use bronzers to give a healthy glow and radiance to the face. The finish is what makes it different from other bronzers I have.

Some of my favorites are NARS Laguna, Tarte Park Avenue Princess. I also love my matte bronzers. Benefit Hoola, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer (not my absolute favorite). The texture of Smashbox Bronze Lights Skin Perfecting Bronzer is excellent, but I chose the lighter color. Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer is lovely as well.

I will do a comparison swatch post soon. The swatches above are pretty true to color. They look very different from pan. On my face I didn't see any shimmers. The blended swatch is hardly visible and that is a good thing, because it blended beautifully with my skin tone.

My review is pretty similar to other reviews out there in the blogging world. The use of same cliched words does not make it any different. I won't say if it is worth or not. I mean it is a pricey product and if it works on you it is worth. This worked for my NC40 warm, skintone, which is NC30 now in spring. I would suggest trying it at Sephora during your next visit and better still ask a SA to apply it on the face. Worth giving it a try.

Note: I noticed the photos look much different/darker on my Apple Products (ipad, macbook, iphone) They look much better on other computers at my place. I will try and fix these pics, but in real life the above product is not 'this' orange and dark.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask (review)

A soothing, leave-on lip mask that replenishes moisture in lips.
This innovative, natural formula smooths, nourishes, and moisturizes lips with a bio-active blend of organic agave nectar, jojoba oil, vanilla CO2 extract, and triple the amount of antioxidant trans-resveratrol found in red wine.

This product does not contain gluten or petroleum.

This is a wonderful product! Not a  very new product in the market, but definitely a very new in my daily skincare regimen.

I have been wanting to try this mask from the moment I saw it at my local Sephora long back but with $26 price tag for a lip balm (it is a mask, not a balm) some thinking was to be done.
The name is a bit misleading though. Earlier I thought that this was some highly glorified lip balm. I tried it at Sephora and my instant reaction was 'this is so thick!!' No way am I going to use anything this thick on my lips for daily use. I did like how my lips felt by end of the day. I did a little research and figured that it is a mask, not the kinds that needs to be wiped off after certain period of time. It is like one of those 'hydrating over night masks' that is meant to be left for a good amount of time, before actually seeing the results.

I got a chance to try this in a small Holiday gift set and I am absolutely in LOVE! The Holiday Set contained three products. Bite Beauty Whipped Cherry Lip ScrubBite Beauty Agave Lip Mask and Bite Beauty BB For Lips. It also had some lip wipes as well.

Color: Pale Yellow with glossy finish. It goes clear on lips. No tints.

Texture and Consistency: Very thick, heavy, super sticky, dense cream

Scent: It is not heavily scented with perfumes, but does has some natural, sweet scent with hint of Vanilla, which is pleasant and non bothering. It tastes sweet as well.

Application: I apply the tiniest amount on my lips. Leave it over night. Less is more with this product. The lips would feel heavy and uncomfortable if lot of it is applied.

Feel on the Lips: It melts when in contact with the lips and spreads easily. It is thick and is not absorbed much. It sits there, heavy on top of the lips. Just like a mask forming a film/coating. There is no tingling sensation or any cool minty feeling. No stinging or numbing at all.

Effect on the Lips: The instant feeling is pretty uncomfortable for me, because of the thickness and heaviness but the lips become very velvety soft and appear hydrated, smooth and moisturized the next day. There is no peeling whatsoever and my lipstick application was easy breezy!

Packaging: Mine came in a soft squeeze tube, not a metal tube. The product is so thick that it takes some effort to get it out of the tube. It is more like a product that I would transfer in a glass jar. The tube does makes it hygienic though.

Verdict: This is not a lip balm. This is an intensive lip treatment. This is a great treatment for dry, flaky, peeling lips. I personally don't enjoy the way it feels on the lips after application but I love the after effect, the results. I would not apply it during the day, because it is too heavy and thick for my liking. The sticky texture is a must or else it would not stay put and in turn not give the desired results. This is a 100% lip care intensive therapy for me. This reminds me to let you all know how much I appreciate the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish, a product that has helped me to keep my lips in good condition this winter. I remember I was not very impressed with Fresh Sugar Lip Polish initially, but now the ease of use, the scent and the effect of it has made a special place in my daily regimen.

The Bite Agave Lip Mask does contain Lanolin (food grade) and I know many who are not huge fan of Lanolin. It does not bothers me. The lip mask didn't break me out around my lip area.
A little goes a long way and I am sure this would last for a really long time.

Great product! Thumbs up! but remember it is a treatment.

Beauty Buys - Charlotte Tilbury, Hourglass, Marc Jacobs Beauty, Bite Beauty

'BEAUTY BUYS' is just another term coined for the infamous 'HAUL'. Its the list of things I buy, try and the ones you will hear me 'yak', 'blab', 'review' about in next few posts!!! Call this a 'Preview'..

Bunch of products I picked in the past month or so.

I had been eyeing the Charlotte Tilbury products for quite sometime now and last month around mid-March, Nordstrom had their Gift with Purchase promotion and Charlotte Tilbury's GWP was the infamous "Charlotte's Magic Cream". As fascinating as it sounded, I was not going to buy the crazy $100 full size jar without trying some samples. This GWP (a generous size jar) would last for couple of uses, enough to make an opinion and great way to try the luxurious 'magic'.

To avail this I ordered the obvious products. The very popular Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face sculpt and Highlight and a blush. I actually didn't needed the blush, but then I had to reach the $100 minimum to get the GWP products.

For the blush, I opted for the color named "Sex on Fire" (these names! I tell ya). The color is not a regular peachy pink or pinky peach. It is little different from the shades I already own. We will see how it goes. Right now, these products are just "admired" and yet to be used.

I placed my first ever order at Beautylish and opted for Charlotte Tilbury 'Multi-Miracle Glow' Cleanser, Mask & Balm for Baby Soft Skin. They had $10 off first purchase and I just picked this. There is something about these names and carefully placed words in Charlotte Tilbury brand of Makeup and Skincare. "Magic", "Miracle Glow" etc etc that makes the product sound all the more Awesome! I hope they live up to their name and price tag.

Sephora had their VIB Rouge sale where 15% off entire order was the deal. I carefully and on purpose avoided picking any new Skincare products and stuck to makeup.

I picked the newly released Hourglass Ambient Bronzer. Everything Ambient from Hourglass has worked excellent for me and even though the initial swatches of this Bronzer on Temptalia showed loads of 'Orange hue' in it (which is true) this made me look so beautiful in store when the MUA applied it on me. I had to get it. I am not sure if I will be able to apply this as wonderfully as she did, but yes, she sold it to me. Her job done!

I picked some lip products as well. I am a huge huge huge fan of Bite Beauty Agave Mask (review) and I really wanted to try their new Butter cream lipsticks. These are the hand cut bullets and according to them this technique removes the outer waxy layer and exposes the most creamy layer of the lipstick. It sounds very 'gimmicky' to me. We will see if it really makes any difference or not.

Marc Jacobs Beauty: I went to this display only because Marc Jacobs Beauty (P)Outliner Longwear Lip Pencil was on my wishlist. Lately I have been using less lipsticks and more of lip liner, lip gloss combination to get a fresh, clean look for my lips. When I swatched it, I knew I had to get it. It is very very creamy and I chose the color Prim(rose) 304.

I love the Marc Jacobs Beauty nail polishes and wanted to try something else. I don't know much about the products from this brand, but I must say the packaging is excellent. I picked a Marc Jacobs Beauty New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel simply because the tube looked beautiful! I chose the color Role Play.

My favorite high end Mascaras are Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Mascara and CLINIQUE Lash Doubling Mascara. Usually I go for drugstore Mascaras. For eyeliners too, I love my drugstore L'Oreal. Also the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner is excellent, but mine dried within a month! I don'y know why. So I stay away from high end liners. The kit is a great way to try all these goodies. The two minis practically come free.

These are many products to try and like always I want to try these for few days before actually reviewing them on this blog.

Have you tried any of these new products? Please share your thoughts on them in the comments below.

Beauty Cravings

A few beauty products that I have been wanting to try for the Spring - Summer Seasons. I won't necessarily buy every single thing, but I do wish to try them on.

Tarte: Tarte Showstopper Clay Palette: This all in one palette will make one excellent travel buddy or an awesome gift for someone. The colors look very wearable.

Marc Jacobs Beauty (P)Outliner Longwear Lip Pencil: I love Marc Jacobs packaging. They have the most unique shaped containers. These lip liners don't need sharpening and I find the number 304 very beautiful.

Guerlain Terracotta Joli Teint Powder Duo looks absolutely luxurious and beautiful in promo pictures. There are four shades in this release. I plan to swatch these the next time I am at a makeup counter (if I am not overwhelmed with the huge selection of bronzers and powders this brand carries)

Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick: The very unusual marketing is making this all the more attractive. Not to mention the pretty color selection and the word 'Butter'

Hourglass Ambient Bronzer: The star product!! I am so looking forward to try this. Everything "ambient" has always worked wonderfully for me. I am dying to swatch this beauty!

Most of these products are released except the Hourglass Ambient Bronzer which i believe is VIB exclusive at Sephora. Reviews and Swatches have started popping up all over the Beauty Blogging sites. I like always will save up, think and re-think and then buy. After all I am just a consumer!

What are your current Beauty Cravings?

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Clinical Concentrate Hydration Booster

A professional strength time-released concentrate helps infuse and seal deep moisture for firmer, smoother, softer-looking skin.

These hydration boosting microdroplets contain hyaluronic acid, watermelon extract, and centella asiatica, smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for luxuriously softer skin. Multifunctional and easy to use, you can simply apply directly to targeted zones or mix into your favorite skincare products for a customized treatment and enhanced benefits.

Formulated without:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates

This product is vegan and cruelty-free

The product was a part of  Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Clinical Concentrate Boosters™ that I had purchased a while back. It had two other products Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Clinical Concentrate Radiance Booster™ and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Clinical Concentrate Purifying Booster. Though not full size, each bottle had 15 ml product that lasted me long enough to test and share my two cents.

Color: Clear

Texture and Consistency: Light weight fluid that is not watery or runny but not thick either. It is not slippery, greasy or sticky

Scent: Pleasant, floral fragrance

Application and Usage:  I applied it as directed. Just 4-5 drops on its own as well as by mixing it into my serum. I used it twice a day.

Feel on Skin: It was absorbed by the skin pretty quickly. Initially there was slight tackiness, but within few seconds it was absorbed completely.

Effect on Skin: The skin feels soft, silky and smooth but not moisturized or hydrated. It felt a bit stretched (strange, right?) I will elaborate on this in just a bit. Luckily there was no reaction or clogging of pores.

Packaging: Beautiful blue colored glass bottle with a dropper. Very basic and hygienic.

Verdict: The product had amazing ingredient list, especially the Hyaluronic Chronospheres and as promising as it looked on paper, it didn't work for me. I really wished it worked though. The product was supposed to add more hydration, but I didn't feel any difference when I mixed it with my regular serum. I even tried it on its own directly on my face. My skin appeared smooth, soft and silky, but no extra hydration. It didn't feel moisturized. It felt stretched and I had to add a layer of moisturizer.
My skin is dry and it gets super dry in winters (Chicago winters). The heaters just add to the misery.

The product would work for someone with normal or combination skin. It may also work for dry skin, but in warmer weather.

In the past I have used similar type of products. Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Face Serum, that was a fail too. Currently I am using The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Serum and so far I am liking it better than the above two.

Available at Sephora

This was my first time trying any product from this brand and like always I would suggest buying value set to try multiple products before committing on to full size one.

Deborah Lippmann - The Cure Cuticle Repair Cream

An ultranourishing formula that repairs cuticles.

This creamy product returns softness and moisture to dry cuticles with a patented combination of soothing, luxurious raspberry stem cell extract, red algae, shea butter, sodium hyaluronate, and vitamins A, C, and E. This powerful treatment offers immediate relief from roughed-up cuticles and offers long-term protection from dryness with daily use.

Formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates

This product does not contain formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, DBP (dibutyl phthlate), or camphor, and is not tested on animals

Color: Pale cream with hint of yellow

Texture and Consistency: Light weight, non-sticky, non-greasy cream

Scent: Pleasant, floral scent

Application: I apply it 2-3 times during the day. I massage tiny amount of cream on each and every nail along with the cuticles for few seconds and then leave it to do it's job.

Feel on Cuticles: It feels absolutely lovely on cuticles. Very light and non sticky. It is absorbed by the cuticles very quickly and there is no greasy residue. I can touch my computer keys almost instantly.

Effect on Cuticles: The cuticles feel soft, hydrated and conditioned. It did not repair my really dry and ragged cuticles completely, but it did leave them moisturized, soft and nourished.

Packaging: Very luxurious packaging. It is bulky and not easy to carry in purse but I like the square shape. The container is light weight plastic but looks like it is made of acrylic.

Verdict: Honestly, I like it because it smells good. Really good. Deborah Lippmann The Cure Cuticle Repair Cream is probably the lightest, non- sticky, non -greasy, non-stinky cuticle cream I have ever used. It is more like a glorified cuticle nourishing cream, but not a cuticle 'repair' cream. It is not a heavy duty repairing product and does not works for really dry, ragged and poor cuticles. It is more of a day care cuticle cream, because of its texture, consistency and smell. I prefer other cuticle repair products like butter LONDON MELT AWAY™ Cuticle EliminatorOPI Avoplex Exfoliating Cuticle Treatment and QTICA Intense Cuticle Repair balm.

I will continue using this one, because I have yet to find a cuticle cream light enough to use during the day time. Did I say this smells AWESOME??
