Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask (review)

A soothing, leave-on lip mask that replenishes moisture in lips.
This innovative, natural formula smooths, nourishes, and moisturizes lips with a bio-active blend of organic agave nectar, jojoba oil, vanilla CO2 extract, and triple the amount of antioxidant trans-resveratrol found in red wine.

This product does not contain gluten or petroleum.

This is a wonderful product! Not a  very new product in the market, but definitely a very new in my daily skincare regimen.

I have been wanting to try this mask from the moment I saw it at my local Sephora long back but with $26 price tag for a lip balm (it is a mask, not a balm) some thinking was to be done.
The name is a bit misleading though. Earlier I thought that this was some highly glorified lip balm. I tried it at Sephora and my instant reaction was 'this is so thick!!' No way am I going to use anything this thick on my lips for daily use. I did like how my lips felt by end of the day. I did a little research and figured that it is a mask, not the kinds that needs to be wiped off after certain period of time. It is like one of those 'hydrating over night masks' that is meant to be left for a good amount of time, before actually seeing the results.

I got a chance to try this in a small Holiday gift set and I am absolutely in LOVE! The Holiday Set contained three products. Bite Beauty Whipped Cherry Lip ScrubBite Beauty Agave Lip Mask and Bite Beauty BB For Lips. It also had some lip wipes as well.

Color: Pale Yellow with glossy finish. It goes clear on lips. No tints.

Texture and Consistency: Very thick, heavy, super sticky, dense cream

Scent: It is not heavily scented with perfumes, but does has some natural, sweet scent with hint of Vanilla, which is pleasant and non bothering. It tastes sweet as well.

Application: I apply the tiniest amount on my lips. Leave it over night. Less is more with this product. The lips would feel heavy and uncomfortable if lot of it is applied.

Feel on the Lips: It melts when in contact with the lips and spreads easily. It is thick and is not absorbed much. It sits there, heavy on top of the lips. Just like a mask forming a film/coating. There is no tingling sensation or any cool minty feeling. No stinging or numbing at all.

Effect on the Lips: The instant feeling is pretty uncomfortable for me, because of the thickness and heaviness but the lips become very velvety soft and appear hydrated, smooth and moisturized the next day. There is no peeling whatsoever and my lipstick application was easy breezy!

Packaging: Mine came in a soft squeeze tube, not a metal tube. The product is so thick that it takes some effort to get it out of the tube. It is more like a product that I would transfer in a glass jar. The tube does makes it hygienic though.

Verdict: This is not a lip balm. This is an intensive lip treatment. This is a great treatment for dry, flaky, peeling lips. I personally don't enjoy the way it feels on the lips after application but I love the after effect, the results. I would not apply it during the day, because it is too heavy and thick for my liking. The sticky texture is a must or else it would not stay put and in turn not give the desired results. This is a 100% lip care intensive therapy for me. This reminds me to let you all know how much I appreciate the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish, a product that has helped me to keep my lips in good condition this winter. I remember I was not very impressed with Fresh Sugar Lip Polish initially, but now the ease of use, the scent and the effect of it has made a special place in my daily regimen.

The Bite Agave Lip Mask does contain Lanolin (food grade) and I know many who are not huge fan of Lanolin. It does not bothers me. The lip mask didn't break me out around my lip area.
A little goes a long way and I am sure this would last for a really long time.

Great product! Thumbs up! but remember it is a treatment.
