Hourglass Ambient Bronzer Luminous Bronze Light (Review/Swatch)

Hourglass Ambient range has always worked for me. The Hourglass Ambient Powders and Ambient lighting blushes have been my favorites and they are genuinely wonderful products.

An illuminating bronzer with Photoluminescent Technology, featuring bronze pigments that deliver a natural-looking, sunkissed glow while flaunting depth and dimension.

Ambient Bronzer’s sheer, airy formula sweeps softly onto skin for a healthy-looking, radiant finish. It’s formulated with Photoluminescent Technology, featuring optically transparent particles that transform the look of skin by manipulating and refracting light to emphasize your best features. The optically transparent particles allow for seamless blending and color transitions. The powders, blended by hand using an advanced miscelare technique, offer the perfect balance of pigments in a gorgeous pattern. Use this bronzer alone, or paired with Ambient Lighting Powder for maximum control to create depth and dimension—or even use it for a subtle contouring effect.

I was very excited about the Hourglass Ambient Bronzer release and when I saw them at my local Sephora during the VIB Rouge Event, I knew I had to have one. These come in two colors. Luminous Bronze Light and Radiant Bronze Light. Both have warm undertones. I chose the color Luminous Bronze Light which is meant for Fair to Medium complexion. The SA applied it on my face with a huge brush and it gave my skin life and I mean literally life!

Now I am not a very pale person to begin with, but winters can make any one appear lifeless! This bronzer gave such a wonderful and luminous glow as well as hint of color to my face that looked very natural. Everything looks really beautiful under those Sephora lights, but the radiant looks of this was noticed by my husband and a friend who met me at the mall.

I didn't wanted to review it based on just one or two applications. I thought I would play around with it for sometime and then give my two cents.

Color: As per the website Luminous Bronze Light is described as a medium tan shade fused with Luminous Light, a champagne pearl powder. I pretty much see the same in pan. A champagne colored powder with light tan veins and sheen. The bronzer is very pigmented and on swatching it showed soft golden shimmers. It has warm undertone to it.

Texture and Consistency: Super soft, silky, smooth, light weight, finely milled powder with light golden sheen. It is not powdery or dusty.

Scent: None detected.

Application: Less is more with this product. The color is pigmented and buildable. I apply this with a big, not very dense brush. Layering the product and then building it is my way to get a good result. It is very easy to blend and even though there were shimmers on hand swatch, on the face it transformed magically to a satiny sheen.

Effect on the face: Absolutely stunning! It did not emphasize the pores not made me look orange. The shimmers were magically transformed to a satiny sheen and luminous glow. This is not metallic or frosty at all. The appearance is natural and does not look powdery on my dry skin.

Longevity: This lasted on my dry skin for good 6-8 hours. It did not fade nor oxidize to a dark color on me.

Packaging: The container is plastic with shiny, metallic finish. It has a mirror as well. It snaps shut and is easy to open and travel with.

Verdict: This is a stunning, but pricey bronzer. Usually I don't contour for a chisled cheek bone look often but when I do, I prefer a matte bronzer. I use bronzers to give a healthy glow and radiance to the face. The finish is what makes it different from other bronzers I have.

Some of my favorites are NARS Laguna, Tarte Park Avenue Princess. I also love my matte bronzers. Benefit Hoola, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer (not my absolute favorite). The texture of Smashbox Bronze Lights Skin Perfecting Bronzer is excellent, but I chose the lighter color. Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer is lovely as well.

I will do a comparison swatch post soon. The swatches above are pretty true to color. They look very different from pan. On my face I didn't see any shimmers. The blended swatch is hardly visible and that is a good thing, because it blended beautifully with my skin tone.

My review is pretty similar to other reviews out there in the blogging world. The use of same cliched words does not make it any different. I won't say if it is worth or not. I mean it is a pricey product and if it works on you it is worth. This worked for my NC40 warm, skintone, which is NC30 now in spring. I would suggest trying it at Sephora during your next visit and better still ask a SA to apply it on the face. Worth giving it a try.

Note: I noticed the photos look much different/darker on my Apple Products (ipad, macbook, iphone) They look much better on other computers at my place. I will try and fix these pics, but in real life the above product is not 'this' orange and dark.
