PETER THOMAS ROTH - CAMU CAMU BRIGHTENING SERUM (Review)

Totally new to this line of skincare, I decided to try the brand with this kit. As always, I find value kits to be a great way to try new products.

Many times multiple products work more effectively when used in synergy with other stuff from their own brand. For instance a certain brand serum would deliver better results when used along with the moisturizers, day cream or night cream etc from its own brand. This is where "value kits" play a major role.

I may be new to Peter Thomas Roth brand, but I am certainly not new to serums or products that contain vitamin C as their main ingredient. In the past I had tried one from The Body Shop and I must say, it was pathetic and highly disappointing. I didn't had much hopes with the whole Camu Camu Power thing, but the whole 'Brightening' thing caught me in its web!

CAMU CAMU POWER C X 30™ VITAMIN C BRIGHTENING SERUM

The Camu Camu berry provides 30 times more vitamin C per ounce than an average orange. This highly concentrated vitamin C has superior absorption properties due to its low molecular weight allowing it to better penetrate the skin, help improve collagen production, brighten, smooth, firm, and improve the appearance of uneven skintone, fine lines, and wrinkles. Powerful antioxidant Camu Camu extract with vitamins A, D, and E also help revitalize the look of skin while helping to fight free radical attack.

Color: Orange

Texture and Consistency: Thin, Watery

Scent: Bitter and Citrus'y'. Something like when an orange goes bitter.

Usage: I used it only once a day in conjugation with PETER THOMAS ROTH Camu Camu Power
C X 30™ Vitamin C Brightening Moisturizer (review). I used this for 4 weeks with the moisturizer and then for another 3 weeks with the Brightening mask.

Application:  I used 2 pumps to spread it all over my face and neck. This being thin and watery spreads very easily.

Feel on Skin: This is a very watery serum. On application, it feels just like water but within seconds it becomes tacky and sticky. Once dry (about 2 minutes), it sets and the skin feels tight and taught. It feels like a thin film is formed on the skin. The product is not a moisturizing serum, so it is must to follow it with moisturizer of your choice. I used the PETER THOMAS ROTH Camu Camu Power C X 30™ Vitamin C Brightening Moisturizer.

Effect on Skin: I never used this alone, all by itself to actually tell if this worked 100% on its own. I always used it in conjugation with other Peter Thomas Roth Products. PETER THOMAS ROTH Camu Camu Power C X 30™ Vitamin C Brightening Moisturizer and later along with PETER THOMAS ROTH Camu Camu Power C x 30™ Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask (this is an incredible product!)

I don't have any wrinkles as of now and I just have fine lines around my eyes, that are only visible when I apply concealer. (I so hate concealers under the eyes, but I am still hunting for that best one) OK, back to product reviewing. I didn't notice much difference in those areas (wrinkles and fine lines). 'Brightening of skin' and improving 'Uneven Skintone' were two claims I was looking forward to. This did help in brightening the skin and making it appear more even and natural, but if I look at individual dark areas on my face like the chin and forehead, I didn't see much of a difference. None of these spots or areas were lightened. Also, the results were slow.

I must add one thing here. When I used this serum with the PETER THOMAS ROTH Camu Camu Power C x 30™ Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask, the results were amazing and unbelievable! I will review this product once I have reviewed the PETER THOMAS ROTH Camu Camu Power C X 30™ Vitamin C Brightening Moisturizer. We go in sequence here.

Packaging: The packaging is bulky, orange and fancy. It is not heavy though. There is a hygienic pump, that dispenses right amount of product. There is no way to find out if the product is finished as nothing is visible.

Verdict: This is an OK product on its own. It didn't break me out nor dried out my skin. Also, I find that it gave much better results when I used it under the Brightening mask. In fact, I am in love with that mask. It is seriously awesome! I would say that the serum-mask combo is life saver for dull, patchy skin.

Have you tried this serum? or anything from the Peter Thomas Roth line of skin care products?
