CAUDALIE Beauty Elixir

The beauty industry calls it a Miraculous Product! A cult classic and celebrity favorite, this multi-purpose product is an essential in every makeup artist's kit. It is an old favorite of mine and I have used it since ages! I remember reviewing this on my blog and calling it glorified water with essential oils. Little did I know it will become an indispensable part in my skincare routine. The old post had to be taken down due to photo bucket ruining all my photos.

The Story
Queen Isabelle of Hungary used a “youth elixir” to help reverse the signs of aging. Inspired by the same, Caudalie formulated  this complexion treatment with grape extracts, that has anti-aging properties of grape-seed polyphenols and clarifying ingredients to provide an immediate burst of radiance. It reduces dullness and is infused with toning rosemary, astringent mint, and soothing rose organic essential oil to prepare the skin for further treatments. The ultimate spa in a bottle.

A natural toning mist that Smooths the skin, tightens the pores, sets makeup, and provides an instant burst of radiance, as it stimulates micro circulation.

This part-toner, part-serum mist is a blend of essential oils and plant active ingredients.

-Mint and Balm Mint Essential Oil: Provide astringent properties.
-Rose Extract: Tones, boost glow & soothe
-Rosemary Essential Oil: Strengthens and rejuvenates.
-Benzoin and Myrrh: Set makeup.
-Orange Flower Water: Softens and hydrates.

Scent
It has a fresh, herbal scent that is soothing and pleasant. The organic essential oils of mint, rose, and rosemary are well blended to impart a beautiful, pick me up kind of scent that is invigorating throughout the day.

Application
I keep the bottle 6-8 inches away from my face, close my eyes and use a couple of spritz all over the face. The mist from the nozzle is fine and dispenses product evenly. It is not super fine and cloudy like GLOW RECIPE Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist but it does not squirts the product either. It is important to   shake the bottle to mix the contents before spraying.

Usage
This is a multi-purpose product and is designed to use in multiple ways.
I use it to prep my skin before applying makeup. It acts as a great primer. As a makeup setting spray, it works wonderfully to set the powder and make the makeup not look cake'y'. It does not increase the longevity of the makeup. Beauty Elixir is the ideal setting spray in-between layers of makeup to fix dry patches for a long-lasting and smooth finish, a trick makeup artists always use.
Also, anytime, anywhere when I feel my face needs little boost of energy, freshness and hydration.

Feel and Effect on the skin
The skin feels cool and there is no tingling sensation. Its like spritzing peppermint water. It is little dewy, but in a good way. It is not shiny, oily or sticky. It did not ruin the makeup nor did it increase the longevity of the same either. There was no drying of skin. It is subtle, didn't make me itchy or break me out.

Packaging
A heavy glass spray bottle. Just as simple. It comes in two sizes. The one show here in pink bottle is a new limited-edition packaging, but has the same formula. I always always buy the small bottle. Even though it is not the best value for money, I find the tiny glass bottle easy to slip in my bag and use it anytime as a quick pick-me-up or to refresh makeup any time of the day. Tiny bottle is very travel friendly. The nozzle dispenses fine mist, not ultra fine or cloudy.

At the top of the Beauty Elixir formula, there is a tiny ring of darker colored liquid, which is intentional. This ring is simply the natural, essential oil components of the Beauty Elixir that have separated from the water components due to the lack of chemical emulsifiers found within the product. Simply shake the contents before spraying to combine the components.

Final Thought
It is the spa like experience that this product gives is what makes it different from other sprays and mists out there. The botanical blends are invigorating and refreshing. The essential oils help as a mood lifter. It fresh scent wakes you up. I find the product more effective and fun to use when it is cold. The whole purpose of the product, irrespective of whatever claims they make is to refresh and re-hydrate. I keep this in fridge over night and then carry it in my beach bag, gym or to the pool.  If you are someone who travels a lot (especially in flights), I would say Caudalie Beauty Elixir is a good product to keep in bag to just re-hydrate the skin that becomes very dry and dull during long flights.  It is fancy, feel good product. Definitely not a must-have, but good to have. It also comes in some wonderful Caudalie Favorites Kit and these kits are a great way to try many products at a very decent cost.

The purchase helps the planet. Caudalie donates 1% of sales to plant trees. So it actually feels good buying one.
