Beauty Edit - Spring Makeup Shift

Fresh, natural, light makeup is something that we all love in the spring time. Personally, I like something dewy. I try to narrow down few products per season, so that I can use them and not get caught up in buying more stuff with all the spring sales (though I did buy a few)

Light base for the face that looks natural is half the job done. An illuminating primer is one of the best things that I am glad I discovered. The whole idea of applying anything shimmery all over the face always freaked me out, but I am glad I found some amazing products to get that fresh, glowy base for makeup.

LAURA MERCIER Foundation Primer in Radiance is a good one. It is subtle and works fantastic as a base. Another good glowy base product that can be worn under makeup or on its own or mixed with a light foundation is the MAC Strobe cream. Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base is an all time favorite. There are so many wonderful products in this category, but I will try to keep the list as compact as possible and not try to repeat my past year favorites, though there will be some overlaps.

Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener is a liquid product that does not get talked about a lot, but I find it working good under my eyes to brighten the area without accentuating the fine lines. It is not a concealer, so it won't cover anything. Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder is an all time favorite and I set my under eyes with this one. It is light weight and brightens.

A tinted moisturizer or a foundation with light to medium coverage is what I always go for. Laura Mercier Soft Candle Glow Luminous Foundation is a good one. (I realized, I talked about three Laura Mercier products back to back, making it look like a sponsored post. But I assure you it is not. I just love the brand) Another nice option is the MAC Face and Body. I don't like to open too many bottles of foundation, so at a given time I have only one or two option to share. To set everything in place an all time, all season favorite powder for me is the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish setting Powder in Medium.

Blush and Highlighter
While sun kissed look works amazing on me in the summer, light Flush of color aka rosy cheeks look much better in spring, when my hibernated skin is light and pale. NARS Blush in Desire, a cotton candy pink looks scary in the pan but it gives the most delicate flush of color on my cheeks. The key is to use a very light hand with the fluffiest brush available in the market.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush is another pretty blush. It is just the right color and has the perfect amount of sheen.

I recently picked RMS Beauty palette in Mod that has few of their cream blushes and highlighters. I have used it a couple of times and so far it is amazing. I love a good cream product and this time I chose this particular one. Also, you can see my trusty old Chanel cream blush lying here.

Kevyn Aucoin cream blush is a very new addition to my collection. It came in the mail the day I was taking pictures for this post. The duo no 2 is a lovely set to have. It is a compact tiny pot with a mirror. The finish is dewy and the color pay off is nice. I have yet to test the longevity of the product though. Another good one that I am glad I picked is the Bite Beauty Multi-stick in Papaya. This one gives the most natural color on the cheeks. It is not a dewy cream product. It just makes the skin look healthy.  I also love the Nudestix Matte Lip and Cheek pencil. They are very creamy and easy to blend. These are pretty much all on the same line and by now you can tell, I love a good cream cheek product.

Glow more with highlighters and illuminators! Becca Shimmering Skin perfector liquid is something I love to dot all over my high points for the lovely illuminating effect. The mini version of this liquid that comes in a tube with little doe foot applicator is a perfect tool for precise placement of product and on the go touch ups. Love the shade Opal. Also, Living Luminizer from RMS Beauty (part of the palette) is a wonderful product that give a lovely, dewy glow. Depending on the bling you can handle, choose a product and just go for it!

For the eyes, I stick to an eye liner and loads of mascara! YSL The Shock, Too Faced Better than Sex, Benefit They are Real, Cover Girl lash Blast are few open ones in my drawer currently.

Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver tinted lip balm (not photographed) is hydrating and gives a lovely color too. There are so many colors in this range now. Easiest lip product to use. MAC Lipsticks in Luster finish is are another favorite of mine. I like Captive, See Sheer to name a few. For a light wash of color and plump looking lips, YVES SAINT LAURENT Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipstick is the product to have. You cannot go wrong with this one. I choose lighter shades for the Spring. Also, Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo are some cool ones out there. These are lip liner and lipstick rolled in one, all thanks to the shape of the bullet.
Another good way to achieve some color on lip is filling the lips with a favorite lip liner and topping it of with a sheer or clear lip gloss. Urban decay Lip liner in Naked and Paranoid or Marc Jacobs
lipliner Roleplay topped with Chantecaille Lip gloss in Lucky is a combination I enjoy a lot.

Lastly Fragrance! Light, fresh fragrances to wear everyday! I love a good floral scent. Crisp, Floral to be precise, not very sweet floral. MAISON MARGIELA ’REPLICA’ Lazy Sunday Morning, JO MALONE English Pear & Freesia Cologne and Ralph Lauren Woman are a few on my vanity right now. I plan to do a separate fragrance post because the current one is already a mile long!

This post had been drafted and scheduled to go live since ages. But somehow I messed with few photographs and had to re-shoot them again. Luckily, Spring has just entered Chicago and so I can justify a month late Spring Edit.

Hope you enjoying this weather shift, because I am trying to soak in every minute of good weather I get.
