Oil bath! I remember as a kid, back home at my native place, we used to apply oil on our body and hair, hours before taking shower, especially in winters. The oil used to be basic Coconut or sesame oil. It used to moisturize the skin and hair thoroughly and then after shower the skin and hair used to feel super soft and smooth. Obviously, it was like a boring chore did not sound fancy, but the results were ultimate! Oils and me have a long, happy relationship. Truly!!
The L’Occitane Cleansing And Softening Shower Oil is a product that I use in winters and in Chicago we have a long winters. In fact as I type this, it is Spring, the heating system is on and I am still using this.
Color: Pale Amber Yellow in bottle, clear in palm
Texture and Consistency: Thick, Light weight, dense but not too viscous nor too runny oil
Scent: Almonds! Delicious sweet fragrance of Almonds!
Application: It is suggested to use on damp skin, but I use it a little differently. I apply it when the body is dry. The oil spreads easily, but due to its lightly thick texture, it does not has enough slip to massage the product on for long. I leave it on skin for around 10 minutes and then hop in the shower. I find it works better for me this way.
Feel and Effect on the Skin: The oil emulsifies into a milky, liquid once it comes in contact with water. It does not becomes foamy nor there is any rich lather. On rinsing, the skin feels super soft and moisturized. Not a lot of water is needed to rinse off the body. It does not leave behind any greasy residue. The skin does not needs any moisturizer or lotion after drying.
Packaging: Clear, plastic bottle with a tiny flip top cap. Mine is 75ml bottle. I always get one or two of these in Holiday sets.
Verdict: This is winter luxury. A warm bath at bedtime is just bliss. It definitely helps in keeping the skin soft, hydrated, moisturized and nourished. Not to mention the scent. The fragrance alone is worth spending extra minutes in the shower. A very calm and soothing spa like experience at home.
