Oh the claims!!! I was so excited to try this product when it came first in the market. You can sell me aka Skincare junkie anything that says SERUM and a Lip Serum was something I had never heard of. Lip Balms, Lip Oils, Lip Masks I have used before but Lip Serum was a new thing.

This is an old post, that I had found while I was going through my drafts on blogger. I have tried and used this product more than a year back. My two cents on this product.

Color: Pale vanilla cream color

Texture and Consistency: Thick, not too dense or heavy, creamy

Scent: It does has a faint smell, but does not bothers me at all. It is not very perfume like.

Application: I applied it on bare lips, like any other lip balm. Tiniest amount is all that is needed. There is no specific way to apply a lip balm or lip serum.

Feel and Effect on Lips: The product is definitely lighter in texture and not as greasy or oily like lip balms and lip oils. There is no shine nor too much of slip. It immediately sinks into the lips and even though the lips feel soft initially, I don't feel that softness staying on for long. I also noticed less lines on the lips. It was not matte, but it gave a more even appearance in terms of texture. The lips appeared more smooth.

As far as the hydration and moisturization goes, it was not great on its own. If I topped it with a lip balm, the softness was maintained. On its own, I found my lips were pretty dry after few hours.

I also noticed slight peeling and blisters around the corners of my lips on initial few applications, but that never happened once I got used to it. I have no idea why that happened, but I thought it is worth mentioning. It does taste horrible.

Packaging: The packaging is very hygienic. The bottle is made of plastic and there is a pump. The pump does dispense decent amount of product and can be controlled easily.

Verdict: I have mixed feelings about this one. To begin with, I do understand it is a lip treatment more targeted towards aging lips by making them look smoother and free of fine lines. So I didn't had high hopes from it to work as a highly moisturizing and hydrating product like lip balms and lip masks. While I love the claims and the concept, I didn't notice much of a difference it made. Also the peeling and blisters/boils around the lip area was a bummer. It didn't happen all the time, but it did made me feel not so good about the product. It is more of a priming product, not a treatment kind of thing.

In conjugation with a lip balm, it works better to retain the softness and hydration of the lips. If you are looking for something to moisturize and hydrate, this is not the one for you. Bite Beauty AGAVE mask is a good product for that over night moisturizing treatment. Also, Yves Saint Laurent 'Volupté' Tint-in-Oil is amazing. I have used two tiny samples of it, but it is lovely.

Few Lip Products that I have used and enjoyed in the past
