Fresh Sugar Face Polish (Review)

An innovative formula made with real brown sugar and strawberries that exfoliates and hydrates all skin types to instantly reveal a softer, smoother, more radiant complexion.

This innovative formula is enriched with revitalizing brown sugar and antioxidant-rich wild strawberries, which work together to gently dissolve dead skin cells and reveal perfectly nourished skin. It also includes hydrating seed oils that leave the skin soft and supple. An invigorating aroma from a natural blend of citrus oils further enhances the experience of using Sugar Face Polish. The formula is recommended for all skin types and will not sting or cause redness.

Formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates

Color: Brown

Texture and Consistency: Thick, grainy, slightly sticky like jam

Scent: Sweet, Citrus'y'

Application: I apply it exactly as suggested. I use a scoop or two and massage it gently in circular motions on clean but slightly damp face. I leave it on for 10 minutes like a mask while I do nothing. Rinse it off with water and pat dry.

Feel and Effect on Face: The sugar crystals dissolve within initial 20 seconds of scrubbing. The crystals of brown sugar are pretty fine and there is not much exfoliation with this, but the skin does feel very soft. It leaves a greasy residue or a film which is left on as a mask. On rinsing the greasiness is reduced but there is still a film left. It acts as a moisturizer and does not dries out the skin like normal exfoliators do. It did not break me out nor there was any irritation, redness or tingling

Packaging: This comes in a white glass tub. I use a small scoop to take the product out. Not the most hygienic container, but pretty functional.

Verdict: I like this product not as an exfoliator but more as a part of pampering skincare regimen. It is not like the traditional exfoliators as the sugar granules are very fine and gentle. They dissolve very quickly. The face does not feel squeaky clean on using this like other exfoliators do. There is no visible brightening effect seen like I usually see on using more gritty scrubs. In fact this face polish leaves a slight greasy film that does not dries the skin. It leaves a moisturized, hydrated, soft and supple skin. It is a good scrub for someone with dry and extra dry skin. The scrub is very mild and can be used multiple times a week. I prefer using it in bath and leave it as is, if I am at home. Other times I clean my face with a mild face cleanser to get rid of greasy residue. I do not want any residue to interfere with my serum or oil applications. Very little amount of product is needed, so a tub would last for really long time.

A good product but I find similar results can be achieved with a DIY version of this scrub. I don't know of any exact formula but a simple olive oil and brown sugar mixture gives similar results, though not exactly the same. Adding few drops of essential oil would add to the aromatic experience as well. Oh, and did I mention I did not see any strawberry seeds, though I think it is blended well in the product.

I like the product and I use this in rotation a lot of time. It performs very differently than other scrubs. Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Face Polish, Caudalie Deep Cleansing Exfoliator, Origins Modern Friction™ Nature's Gentle Dermabrasion, CLINIQUE 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula, Kate Somerville ExfoliKate® Intensive Exfoliating Treatment are few amazing exfoliators or scrubs that I use often and I love them all. Some little less, some more. They all perform very differently and I use them in rotation depending on the state of my skin and seasons.

Worth trying once. This also comes in set of three with two other masks as well. Fresh Face Mask Essentials Trio or as part of Holiday Kits that Fresh releases every year.
