I had been to CCO…(so whats new??) and I am soo proud of myself..I controlled the urge to buy tons of stuff just for the sake of buying.
I only picked few products….everything from the old crème team collection that was released in February this year. Not a very old collection…
The CCO had products from Rose Romance aswell. So many things from new collections (almost new) were available there.

My CCO had everything from Lavender Whip to Just a Pinch gel blush. Also, the
old and gold items like Other wordly blush and Afterdusk blush that i had missed
on. That’s probably one reason I don’t feel like buying products from new
collection when they release and I am fine with buying a product bit later, if i
can get it at discounted price..:)

Ok, so firstly I picked Lavender whip lipstick. It’s a lovely shade, that I had passed in the past, because I didn’t knew how to make a purple lipstick work on my skin tone.
Later when I tried other Lavender shade products, they worked and then the hunt for Lavender whip began…
It’s a cream sheen formula, so very moisturizing on lips. It is one of those formulas that have decent pigmentation and is not drying. Glad its a permanent finish of lipstick.

Swatch of MAC Lavender Whip Lipstick

Other things I picked were the Cremesheen Glass

MAC Cremesheen glass

I picked them simply because they looked soo pretty in tube. I knew that they are one of the sheerest formulas for lips, in varying degree of pigmentation. Its not that I have aversion to nude lips or sheer lipglosses. Its just that owning too many of sheer stuff hardly makes any difference on my lips after application. They all appear same.

Cremesheen glass in Melt in your mouth, Petite Indulgence, Creme anglaise

The colors I picked are Melt in your mouth, Petite Indulgence, Creme anglaise.
Later I checked Temptalia and as per her observation, I had picked the most pigmented ones of the lot.

Swatches of MAC Cremesheen Glass

The creamsheen glasses are soft and smooth. Less sticky than Dazzleglass. They practically have no shimmers. They are pretty similar on application like the dazzle creams, but a tad less pigmented.

Cremesheen Glass in Lovely Colors

I see myself layering it over a lipstick, rather than wearing these alone.

Melt in your mouth, Petite Indulgence, Creme anglaise, Soft and Slow,
Full on Lust, Sock Hop, Eclectic Edge (Miss Marble is Missing)

Good for me, At a fraction of price, I did get the cremesheen glasses, though a little late in the year.

MAC Dazzleglass Creme Collection -- Fall 2009

MAC Dazzleglass Creme

Flashing Flecks of lustrous glimmer give the lips a new kind of high-beam shine,
while the balm-effect of the pillow-top comfort creme keeps the supple going and
going. Ultra-luxurious, no sticky smack or drag. Aloe and Vitamin E enrich, keep
lips lightweight but strong-willed, for long-lustre, ultimate luminosity. Wear
it alone for medium-sheer, dewy coverage... For dazzle with absolute comfort,
it's better than brilliant. And the accompanying applicator brush is a

Soft Dazzle - Mid-tone peach pink with gold pearl
Sublime Shine - Light coral brown with gold pearl
My Favourite Pink - Light blue pink with pearl
Perfectly Unordinary - Bright yellow pink with gold pearl
Luscious Spark - Light orange with gold pearl
Do It Up - Bright blue pink with pearl
Totally Fab - Bright yellow red with pearl
Amorous - Deep brown red with pearl
Creme Allure - Bright yellow plum

Swatches of MAC Dazzleglss creme and Lipglasses

I got this new dazzleglass Creme from the new Dazzleglass Creme Collection for Fall '09 that released recently. The shade I got is Luscious Spark.
I always found Dazzleglasses to be very glittery and overly sticky, so i wanted to try the Dazzleglass creme before buying numerous shades from the collection.

I am very happy with the consistency. Its not as sticky as Dazzleglass or even Lipglass. Its creamy, but then not very long lasting. Multiple application is needed. This product is a lovely combination of Dazzleglass and cremesheen glass rolled in one.
These are not shimmery or glittery. So thats a plus for me.
Luscious spark is this corally orange creme shade. I didn't had anything similar. Its sheer, but still noticeable when worn alone.

Swatch of MAC Dazzleglass creme in LUSCIOUS SPARK

I liked the formulation a lot and would try to B2M for a few more shades, though many of these appear sheer and similar to many other lipglosses i have from MAC or other brands.

So finally I got my Photorealism quad!!!
A friend of mine was to pick this for me because, I had picked some stuff from my CCO for her. But due to personal reasons she couldn’t send the quad earlier to me.
Even though the whole MAC Fall craze has died down, I am pretty excited to get my quad and here are my two cents…

MAC Photo Realism quad Swatches

So firstly, this quad is beautiful….its not green as I had expected…but it has its own beauty…
4 shadows with some great finishes like Veluxe pearl and Frost, it’s a great addition to any collection.…not to mention a decent price tag…pretty cool..J
I liked the gold color (highlighter one) and the darkest color, which resembles blue green pigment.
The other two colors are nice too, but personally I am not fan of such colors. That’s one major reason I don’t have colors like Aquavert or any sea green at all.

Swatches of Photo Realism, Fresh Approach, Grey Range, Image Maker

With CULT OF CHERRY COLLECTION in 2008, MAC has set very high standard for FALL quads. That was probably one reason I had high expectations and hopes with Fall Quads this year aswell.

I had high hopes with this quad and it was on my wish list from day one. But when I started to see swatches I realized this was not what I had expected.
The colors did have a great color pay off. Over a Black base, blue base, green base and white will altogether transform itself into various shades of greens, blues, greys.
There are tons of swatches over various bases for this quad…so I didn’t feel like doing all the work for my blog…J
Once I use it for a couple of times, I will get an idea what exactly comparable colors I have.
I would love to buy Notoriety quad aswell, but as I liked only 2 colors from that quad, I would wait for it to hit my CCO.

Bobbi Brown shimmer Brick -- GOLD

Some days are lucky…on one such day, I got to bring home some products from my sister’s stash that she was not reaching for often. We did a little make-up swap at home. Good for me. Personally I had never tried any of the shimmer bricks by bobbi Brown. I always found them overly shimmery for my taste. I even find MAC’s MSF shimmery, so obviously shimmer bricks were not for me.

The one I got to try is GOLD shimmer brick. I guess this is some LE stuff. I don’t follow BB’s LE products. So my thoughts on this very loved famous product.

This limited edition Bobbi Brown Shimmer brick is a great set of colors to highlight
almost any skin tone. The compact includes five shades of ultra-luxe, pearlized
pigments that blend together to create a soft golden glow on the eyelids or
cheekbones. Wear it with your regular shades to add some extra sparkle or on its
own for a natural-looking glow.

Shimmer brick is a great product to put over any blusher or alone. Depending on the color stripes, it can be used as highlighter or a complete cheek color. Different shimmer brick suits different skin tones. These contain very fine shimmer, BUT NO GLITTER…

It is also a great product to dust lightly over the whole face with fan brush or a stippling brush like 187 by MAC. Overall, shimmer brick is a versatile product. I brick in GOLD very very pretty. I always found shimmery products tend to make my pores visible. So I avoid dusting it at certain areas, but this one, even though had shimmers in it, in no way was glittery or made my pores visible. All it gave was lovely sheen. I am soo impressed with this one product! I used it over my blush and it gave a pretty lovely glow.

I am not sure if this is the case with other shades aswell, I mean if they are less shimmery or more shimmery…but this one sure is going to stay in my stash. This is a very delicate and fragile product. If not handled carefully, I am sure it will wreck. I have to travel carefully with this.

Now that i liked this product, I will browse through Bobbi Brown counters when I go to my CCO next time…
Please suggest some great Shimmer brick shades that anyone of you have tried.
Suggestions awaited...:)

Back to MAC aka B2M Goodies...

Free Goodies are always welcome, and if the free stuff is MAC...its more than welcome...:) This week i went to MAC to have a look at new collections. Nothing impressed me much, but i did get a chance to B2M a few goodies.

Because we share your commitment to the environment, M·A·C accepts returns
of its primary packaging through the Back to M·A·C Program. By returning six [6]
M·A·C primary packaging containers to a M·A·C counter or M·A·C Cosmetics online,
you’ll receive a free M·A·C lipstick of your choice as our thanks to you.

Even though the lipglasses i chose have a crapy wand, the colors are beautiful enough to justify owning them. To top it all they were free!!!

I read it on Specktra or somewhere that Miss Marble is a color thats really pretty and its like MAC Lust and MAC Lovechild had a!! I don't know to do such great comparisons....but yeah, it sure is a pretty pink shade, more on warmer side. Soft and Slow and Full on Lust are my few favorites and I love them soo much that i have Back-ups. Miss Marble resembles very close to these shades....and I am happy i picked it.

(Full on Lust, Miss Marble, Vivaglam V, Lovechild, Soft and Slow)

Eclectic Edge is a pretty lavender shade and i like the way it looks on me. So that was another choice. Eclectic Edge swatch here.

THE BALM -- HOT MAMA BLUSH Review n Swatch

The packaging of The Balm, Benefit and Urban decay always attracts me. Especially the vintage looks of Benefit packaging.
This Hot Mama blush was on my list since quite sometime and I did pick it a few weeks back.
It looks pretty similar to Orgasm blush. I don’t have Orgasm, but who hasn’t seen Orgasm…lol!!
I have Deep throat.
What it is:
A true all-in-one essential: sexy shadow, striking blush, subtle
highlighter, and light-reflecting lip finisher tucked inside a go-anywhere

What it is formulated to do:
The pinky-peach hue adds a splash of color to cheeks, a hint of shimmer to
the lids, and illuminates your finest features.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
Synthetic Fragrances
Synthetic Dyes

Ok, back to Hot Mama….
This is a peachy, coral blush with gold flecks…(So, what’s new?). I personally love this color family of blushes a lot and I find them flattering on my skin tone, hence the reason I have cheek products that are similar

It has gold shimmers and is decently soft and pigmented. Its not chalky at all. Its not even loose, powdery. Its perfect. Nars Deep throat was much matte in comparison to this and it is more on pink side.
Pigmentation of a product is pretty subjective. I mean people who love deeply pigmented blush would not consider this as pigmented. Anyone over NC 42/43 in MAC foundation range would need to pack this on.
The color is buildable, but the only downside is the more you try to pack on the color, the more gold shimmers are deposited.

I use it has a highlighter over my peachy/coral blushes. Infact the gold shimmers looked more pretty as highlighter over another blush than using it as blush all on its own.
I even used it as highlighter over NARS Portofino and the combination just ROCKED!!!
No, seriously…I don’t say I looked Gorgeous….but the cheeks did look Gorgeous!!!!

In a nut shell,

1. Cost effective for $19 a piece.
2. Decently Pigmented
3. No Smell/Fragrance
1. Cardboard packaging. (light weight, but gets dirty easily)
2. Shimmers can bother people who prefer light shimmer or matte product.
Would love to know what blushes you suggest in the same color family...:)

Smashbox- Photo Finish Foundation Primer-REVIEW

Smashbox Photo finish Primer with Dermaxyl Complex

Prime, protect, and correct in just one step! This anti-aging primer
creates the perfect canvas for foundation application. Worn alone or under
foundation to increase its longevity, this unique formula helps to reduce the
appearance of fine lines and pores for visibly softer skin. The revolutionary
formula contains DERMAXYL COMPLEX™, an advanced peptide treatment clinically
proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles over time, SPF 15 to guard against
harmful UVA/UVB rays, vitamins A & E, grape seed extract and green tea for
antioxidant protection.

The Pump (dispenser)

Photo Finish Foundation Primer

What it is:
Smashbox makeup artists use this product to create a perfect canvas for foundation application.

What it is formulated to do:
The silky blend of vitamins and antioxidants smoothes and perfects skin, while the unique formula helps to inhibit the destruction of collagen, and fills in fine lines and pores for a flawless finish

Smashbox PhotoFinish Primer (the original one) is clear, and goes on clear. It primes the face and prepares the skin for the application of foundation and other make-up. It also helps fill in small lines and wrinkles, and make the skin appear to have an even finish.

The consistency

It comes in a bottle with a pump dispenser, which is very handy. The PhotoFinish primer is a silicone based product and it glides easily on skin. Its like applying thin layer of oil. The consistency is neither too thick nor too liquidy. It may sound gross, applying oil on face before make-up, but it does help in winters, especially if skin is more on drier side. Once applied, after few seconds the product sets itself and the skin appears smooth, soft and silky. Very little amount of product is needed. A pea size amount would cover the whole face, or may be abit more.
Unlike the Cargo Blu-Ray Mattifier, i didn't find it turning from cream to powder or giving a matte finish. As i mentioned this glides easily, like oil...not powder.

Original PhotoFinish is clear, but it still evens out the skin tone.
I tried this original formula in a sample size tube, and later got the one with Dermaxy complex in a Smashbox kit.

This one is slightly peachy/apricot in color, but that doesn't affects the skintone. It works like the clear one. The only plus point with this formulation is that it has SPF of 15 and thus imparts some protection from the harmful UVA/UVB rays. It has no offensive smell or scent. A tiny tiny amount is needed to cover the whole face.

It has vitamins and Anti-oxidants, that claims to slow down the aging process...(hehe...u knw what this means to all of us)

In a nut shell,

1. Awesome, non-drying, light weight.
2. Fragrance free.
3. Works on all skintones.
4. Evens out fine lines and dimineshes pores. (it really does)
5. Glides easily.
6. Comes with an easy dispenser, a pump.
7. Plastic, sturdy container.
8. Product consistency is not very thick or not very fluidy.

1. Silicone based primer.
2. Oily skin people may find it bit oily by end of the day.
3. Price...a whopping $42 for 1 oz. bottle.

What are your favourite Face primers? Please suggest and share your thoughts if any in the comment section...:)

MAC Just A Pinch Gel Blush - Review

MAC Just a Pinch Gel Blush

This is one product i really wish MAC makes permanent. If NARS is a light weight cream based cheek product, Just a Pinch gel blush is the lightest. As the name suggests, its a GEL.

Sheer gel cheek blush in a pot delivers a rosy glow of coverage for a healthy
complexion. Dewy texture blends into a thin film on skin, giving low to medium
transparent coverage.

Swatch (Just a Pinch Gel Blush)

In pot, it does looks bright red, but on cheeks it gives a perfect rosy glow. As its gel, it is light and very blendable. It does not dries or sets immediately on application, just giving ample time to sheer or blend. It just melts in skin giving it the most natural look. Unlike few tints and products that work on same concept, this blends easily and doesn't looks artificial or cakey.

Pretty Red Color (Gel Blush)

Very natural looking, the color is sheer pink, neither too warm nor too cool. The color is blendable. No offensive fragrance. Non- sticky awesome product.
Use 188 brush or fingers to apply it.

Sheered out (Lightly)

Layer is alone for a natural flush of color in cheeks or as base for powder blushes to make is last longer. This comes in a glass jar which is a bit heavy, but thats fine.

Sheered out completely
I should have reviewed this long back...but i forgot...When i realised that its LE and still available, i thought if anyone still wishes to try....may be my two cents would be helpful...:)
Oh, this can double up as a lip tint aswell....Multi-purpose stuff....always welcome!!!

MAC Cleanse off oil

MAC Cleanse-off oil

An industry-strength oil-based makeup remover that's gentleon the skin.
Botanically formulated with oils of olive fruit, evening primroseand jojoba seed
and absolutely 100 percent mineral-oil free. Massages onto theskin to loosen all
makeup, including waterproof mascara. Emulsifies into alotion-type liquid with
water: rinses off easily, no tissues required - and noresidue! Protects with
vitamin E. Skin softening and conditioning. Good for allskin types.

The pump

I find this stuff AMAZING. This is a light oil. It has this lovely mild orangey fragrance. Its one of the thinnest oils I have ever used on my face. Its even lighter than Baby oil. All I have to do is smear it all over my face. Massage gently for a minute and wipe off with a wet tissue. Then rinse the face with a mild cleanser and water.

1. Convenient pump packing. (though I am not sure how safe it will be while traveling)
2. Thin and light in texture.
3. Mild and non irritating.

1. Skin can feel a bit dry, if you have dry skin. (my mom has dry skin, she finds it on drying side) 2. Price can be an issue. $22 for 150 ml bottle, but it lasts for a long time.

At times I even double it up to remove stains from my make-up brushes. Over all an awesome product.

BENEFIT Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

BENEFIT Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

This stuff ROCKS!!!

BENEFIT Skinny Jeans and Marry Up Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner
This was one of those purchases that I did within one week of lemming….and I am thankful I did… Its is one of the best products from Benefit, apart from Coralista that I have tried and I must say it just performs its task as it claims.
True to its name….its creaseless…

Better Pic

This is a cream based eyeshadow that can be used alone or as base under eyeshadows. I used it all by itself, without using any Urban decay primer potion and it did last all day long without creasing, fading or smudging. It can double up as a liner, but i have yet to use it as a liner. The product has a very lovely sheen to it which makes it even more beautiful for using it as an eyeshadow alone. Very creamy in texture, easy to blend and buildable. It can be used as sheer wash on lids or can be layered up for a more intense look.

BENEFIT Skinny Jeans and Marry Up Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner
I have this in 2 lovely shades. One is a very pretty Pewter color in Skinny jeans and other one in a lovely rose gold kind of color called Marry Up, which was one of their Limited edition colors that I managed to get from All Cosmetics Wholesale.

Swatches of Benefit Creasless Cream shadow

It’s a great product if you want to avoid all the brush blending and stuff….I use my fingers to apply and I am good to go. Its comparable to MAC paint pots in term of packaging, but way creamier and soft in texture.

Swatches of Skinny Jeans and Marry Up creaseless cream shadow
I found this very useful on my recent trip to Niagara falls, which involved lot of “water”…my eye make-up did not move…and I didn’t even had to carry any make-up brushes!!
Oh, did i said, it looked awesome beneath Smoke n diamonds eye shadow by MAC??

Gingerly is a MAC blush, a sheer tone blush. It is a MAC permanent blush, but I was soo busy drooling over the “newer” things and stuff, that I didn’t even ever bothered to ever swatch it at store. Past few months back i ordered one in MAC sale and as it was discounted, I thought no harm in trying. I am NC 37/40 , with Yellow undertones and definitely fall in to the category of WOC (women of colour). This blush had great reviews in various forums and is a highly recommended amongst WOC.

Fun and Games, Gingerly, Spaced Out Blushes By MAC

I did try….and boy!! It sure is gorgeous. It just gives my face a lovely warm color. it’s a sheer tone blush and is matte, with hardly any shimmers. Pretty buildable and blendable. As the name suggests its like Ginger…I mean the color. Very brown/peach…It is NOT a dirty, muddy brown, but it is a peach with brown mixed…
Whoosh!! Its hell of a task to describe color… Gingerly is matte and you just don’t have to be too careful while applying. You just can’t over do it. Its just a humble go-to neutral color.

Swatches of MAC Blush in Gingerly, Spaced Out and Fun n Games

It does look pretty similar to Spaced out and Fun and Games here in my pics, but in real life
its not the same. They do belong to the same family of Peach for sure. Gingerly has more Brownish, warm hue to it and is more pigmented, with practically no Shimmers.

Swatches of MAC Blushes

Swatch in different Lighting.

If you love peach color blushes, Gingerly sure is worth giving a try!!!
