Powders and Dry skin never go hand in hand. I have dry skin and as weird as it sounds, I love powder foundations as my base. I have had my fair share of failures with setting powders and powder foundations but the one that works amazing for my dry skin is this CT.
This is one of those products that look basic and non essential but then you miss it when it is not there. It ties up everything together at the end by adding that extra something something and gives the most flawless, air-brushed finish.
Color
The powder comes in only three shades and I have mine in 2 medium. The color selection is not wide, but again it is more of a blurring powder, so it does not has much color to begin with.
Texture and Consistency
It is a light weight, finely milled, buttery smooth almost creamy soft powder. A powder that is creamy! There is not too much of a powder kick up and can be picked up by a brush easily.
Application
I use it either with a large fluffy powder brush to dust the product lightly all over or something small and fluffy like the CT brush to set product under my eyes and light dust the powder in targeted areas like cheeks and forehead. I avoid using a densely packed brush to apply this powder. As the coverage is next to negligible, I don't have to buff it in.
Effect on skin
It does all the good things to my face. Does not emphasize dry patches or pores, smooths the texture giving a satiny, velvety finish. This does not make me look cakey or makes my skin appear flat matte. It looks very natural. I also use it to set my under eyes concealer. It smooths the lines, but does not settles in those lines. Magic!! right??
This powder does not oxidizes on me nor does it alters the vibrancy of my makeup. Also, the makeup does not appear patchy after hours. There is no flash back in photographs. It has Dimethicone in it , which pretty much all these blurring products contains and I was afraid it might break me out in the longer run, but nothing like that happened.
Packaging
The packaging is very sleek and vintage looking. It is a plastic, beautiful rose gold compact with a mirror. It looks sophisticated, but for a high end product like this, I think the compact should have some weight and feel more luxurious in hands. The compact has no brush or puff. Usually, I never use the applicators that come in these compacts, but for this one, I would have preferred a little something as it is a product I take with me for touch ups. That would had made it more functional and travel friendly.
Verdict
This product is a photo filter in a compact. This is more of a blurring powder than a setting powder. It is different from the usual setting powders that suck the moisture or the oils out and leave the skin looking dry, tight and lifeless. My face gets super itchy when I use certain powders, luckily not with this one. It gives one of the most natural, flawless finish to the face. Charlotte Tilbury Air Brush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder is one of THE best powders for dry skin.
