Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss

I always wanted to try these, but I had way too many lip glosses in rotation and I just wanted to use up at least few of them, before picking new ones. It is a little difficult to see massive amount of makeup that I buy with my hard earned cash go rancid. It is like money down the drain. I have been really good with down sizing my lip glosses. At $28 a piece, this thing ain't cheap.

My first color choice were obviously Sugar Sugar and Love Drunk but it was difficult to resist this Limited edition set, with three full size lip glosses. The pouch itself is very cute and colorful.

The colors in this set are

French Tickler (iridescent peach shimmer)
Pink Steam (iridescent lavender shimmer)
Want Me (opaque beige-pink)

Before I jump to reviewing this, I would like to mention that all the three shades and the two formula (high shine/creamy and Shimmer) totally performed different from each other.

Texture, Consistency and Application:
The set has lip glosses in two finishes. The High Shine finish and the Shimmer finish. This is a thick and dense lip gloss. It is not sticky, but it is little goopy, especially the one without shimmers. It gives me that 'string like thingy' when I open my mouth.

The High shine finish lip gloss in the shade Want Me? is opaque with no shimmers and it went on very patchy on my lips, accentuating every fine line. It just settled in them. The other two shades that had shimmers were smooth and easy to apply and did not sink in the fine lines.

The applicator picks decent amount of product and applies it evenly. The doe foot applicator is good, a bit flimsy though. Just a very thin layer is needed. Piling on too much product leads to goopy, sticky lips.

Feel and Effect on the Lips: The lips feel moisturized and look full and plump. The lips look shiny, and glossy. It gives that wet look on the lips. The gloss does stay on long because it literally clings on and sticks to the lips. It is the shine factor that is not very long lasting. The beautiful wet looking juicy lips just don't stay looking that way for too long. The gloss layers well over a lipstick.

Pigmentation: Most of the colors in this line offer medium to sheer coverage. Of the three colors that came in my set, only one shade in Pink Steam looks very dark and purple, but on lips it goes on pretty clear with light lavender shimmers. The other two shades are pretty nude on my lips.

Swatches of Marc jacobs Lip gloss in Want Me?, French Tickler and Pink Steam

Scent: It has a light, sweet minty scent and I like it. There is no tingling sensation. The lips do feel cool on application, though that cooling sensation fades quickly.

Packaging: I like the shape of the tube. It is rounded square and does not rolls everywhere when I try to take pictures for Instagram (not that it is a selling point, but worth mentioning). The tip or the applicator is flat sponge and it is super flexible. The mouth of the tube is tiny and I fear that with constant use, the sponge tip will break! It has not yet broken, but it is too flexible and delicate.

The Makeup Bag:
It is a cute, colorful bag. It is designed by Julie Verhoeven, a British artist and illustrator known for her whimsical designs that are heavy with pop culture references.

Verdict: I have mixed feelings about these glosses. There was so much hype around these when it came that it made me feel like I was missing on something phenomenal, out of this world product. While I do love the shade in French Tickler, the other two didn't work as well as I hoped for me. I do want to give other shades a try again, because sometimes a product performs better when it is purchased individually and is not a part of any set or kit. In this set itself, the performance, texture and consistency of the shimmer shades were totally different from the creamy ones.

Currently a very popular Marc Jacob Lip gloss shade in Sugar Sugar is a part of this Sephora Favorites set. There are some other cool lip glosses as well. Great way to try out many brands at one go!

Few other beautiful lip gloss that I have tried and loved
