MAKE UP FOR EVER – HD CREAM BLUSH - Pink sand 220 (Review/Swatch)

An ultrablendable blush with a natural look and finish made specifically for HD technology.

Formulated with the perfect balance of oils, waxes, and powders, HD Blush combines the second-skin look of a cream with the ease of a powder. Created for HD technology, this formula blends into skin with no visible texture for a truly natural flush of color. It’s completely weightless and can be worn over or under powder to sculpt and highlight cheeks flawlessly.

Every summer Cream blushes come back in rotation. I do use cream blushes all year around either on its own or as a base to layer on powder blush, depending on the color. In summer though I find it very easy to travel with cream blushes as they last longer and are easy for touch ups on the go. I have owned this for about a year.

Color: Neutral Pink, slightly cool toned.

Texture and Consistency: Creamy, non-greasy, non-slippery. In fact a little on dry side.

Application: This is where the drama begins. I applied it using my fingers as well as brush. Found it difficult to blend both ways. I used my fingers to apply the product and it dried down pretty quickly giving very less time to blend the product effectively. The end result was blotchy and patchy. I had to actually rub in the product. It dried down to a natural finish. Not too dewy nor too powdery.

I used it with both synthetic as well as natural bristle brushes.
On using it with a dense brush like MAC 130 short duo fiber, it was very difficult to pick up any product, let alone apply and blend. On using it with Real Techniques Stippling brush, the application was OK, but not acceptable. Fingers still were better.

Feel and Effect on Skin: It works best on bare skin. On application it dries down fairly quickly, making it almost difficult to blend. It is non slippery, non greasy and after blending the end result is blotchy and patchy.

Scent: None Detected

Color Payoff and Longevity: The Color Payoff is excellent. The colors are buildable. The staying power is decent too. It lasted around 6 plus hours on my bare skin and when used as a base the blush lasted for good 8 hours.

Packaging: I love the sleek compact. It comes with a mirror which is tiny but handy. The compact snaps shut tight and can ruin nail polish if not careful while opening. easy to travel with.

Verdict: I am not a huge fan of the texture, just because I find it a little too dry for my liking. It can be blended with fingers, though it is extremely difficult to get an even appearance. The color is buildable. I find it almost impossible to work with a brush. I tried both synthetic and natural bristle brushes. I wish the product were a bit more emollient. Also, the color I chose was not the best match for my olive toned skin. It does show up pretty well, but I do find it a bit too cool toned.
With all the flaws I could find in this, I love this to use as a base. I find it works best as a neutral base for my other powder blushes and make them last longer in summer months and during outings.

I still love my MAC Creme blend blush, NARS The Multiple Stick, Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée, LE BLUSH CRÈME DE CHANEL (Chanel Cream Blush) better than the MAKE UP FOR EVER – HD CREAM BLUSH. All for different reasons. Either for color, texture or consistency.
