An ultra-nourishing spot treatment to soften even the driest skin. Use on elbows, lips, cuticles, feet, and even hair!
The beauty balm helps to protect, soften and regenerate dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin. Enriched with antioxidant vitamin E, Shea Butter is an ideal beauty balm, used by women in Sub-saharan Africa to protect and nourish their skin and hair. This 100% natural origin, certified organic* Shea Butter is extracted from wild kernels of Shea tree fruits.

Shea butter is used in high concentrations in all L'Occitane skin care, body care and hair care lines to protect, nourish, soothe, comfort and regenerate the skin.

I got this stuff in a Holiday set by L'Occitane. It was on sale at my Sephora, though most of the other stores had it for full price. The set was a killer deal and not to mention I got so many good products to try. It is worth saving up for the holidays and buying these sets if you wish to try out a new brand and new products, especially the skincare lines.

This came in a tiny tin, which has the cutest packaging and cutest label. I just love the old style of packaging for some products.

Color: White

Consistency: Solid

Texture: Thick, Super thick balm

Fragrance: None

Application: I like to apply it on very thick and most dry areas of body, like Elbows, Knees and Heels. There is a reason to it and I will come to that very soon.  The product gets very thick and solid in winters and it becomes very difficult to get the product out and spread it. The heat of fingers are not enough to melt it.

Effect and Feel on Skin: The heat of the fingers does not melts the product like oil, so whatever I get on my fingers leaves a thin coat on the dry area where I apply it. I use it as spot treatment on dry areas and it moisturizes it, by leaving a protective covering, film like thing, which is non greasy, non sticky.

Verdict: Not a greasy product at all. I think because it does not spreads easily, it is meant to be used as spot treatment. I won't be using it on complete hand and feet (for above reason), though I would love to, because it actually works.

Didn't enjoy it on my lips at all, because it felt too heavy. Not Greasy, but heavy! Elbows and Heels were my favorite spots to use this.

This did work fantastic for my son though, who has very very dry skin. His ever dry, rough knees were thankful and the moiturised effect lasted pretty long time. I tried L'Occitane Body Lotion for my kid and that worked as well!

Nice product to have if you have dry skin and it is 100% organic too!

I am sound a bit Obsessed with using all these oils and balms and creams for hand, neck and feet, but believe me concealers and foundation can hide fine lines and wrinkles on face, but nothing can hide the aging on neck, hand and feet. It is worth the effort if one wishes to age beautifully.

Simple Joys

                                                       Henri Bendel Bangles and Cuff

The black bangle bracelet from Henri Bendel is one of my absolute favorite piece of Jewelry and I get so many compliments every time I wear it. This makes me borderline paranoid of losing it. I think I will start looking for a back up on dear evil bay.

                                                                Winter Wonderland

A beautiful picture my husband clicked last week when whole of Chicago was turned into a beautiful Winter Wonderland.

Working on a new blogpost. Swatching  and comparing new products are one of my favorite things to do. Lipstick comparisons top them all.

Such a great way to teach re-cycling to my son. I personally like these paper bags from Lush.

With everything cold, white and gloomy outside, the pop of Red was such a welcome change!!

Beauty Buys - Laura Mercier, Too Faced, YSL

'BEAUTY BUYS' is just another term coined for the infamous 'HAUL'. Its the list of things I buy, try and the ones you will hear me 'yak', 'blab', 'review' about in next few posts!!! Call this a 'Preview'..

I am in search of a lipstick that is not too pink and not too Brown, but has a touch of rosey mauve shade leaning more towards mauve and less towards rose???. Not too cool nor too warm. It should not be matte, but still have the needed sheen. I am just looking for that perfect one! A color and texture that is in my imagination.

This search lead to a mini haul. I picked few new Lipsticks and a Brush set.

Laura Mercier Lip Colour - Crème in shade DRY ROSE: A Rose Mauve Brown Shade

YSL ROUGE PUR COUTURE SPF15 - Pure Colour Satiny Radiance in shade 28 Rose Boheme - pink plum

Too Faced Lip Color Creme in shades Cinnamon Kiss and Sweet Maple.

Hopefully something would be close enough to the one I am looking for. I will review these and do a little color comparison with the many more similar shades that I already have in my collection.

Real Techniques Brush Set: I had tried this brand by Samantha Chapman (available at Ulta) in November last year. Their Powder Brush is really good and very affordable. It is holding up really well and I am using it practically everyday. This time I picked a small set of four brushes.
Hopefully they will perform as good as the powder brush.

Reviews and thoughts to follow in future weeks.

So who all are having Oscar party tonight?

Burt's Bees - Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Crème

This was a part of the Tips and Toes kit that I got during the Holidays. Not my absolute favorite from Burt’s Bees. I just find that synthetic Almond smell very bitter and annoying. I honestly never liked that smell as it is even in Almond Biscotti.

Color: Pale Cream Beige

Texture: Smooth, Waxy, Greasy

Consistency: Very Thick, Slightly Sticky Cream

Fragrance: Synthetic Almond Essence (Bitter Smell)

Application: I used a dime size scoop for both hands. It spread OK, but not easily. Later after a mini massage, I put on my fuzzy, gloves from Earth Therapeutics.

Feel on Skin: It felt waxy and sticky. It didn’t sink in right away. I had to actually massage it for about a minute or so for it to spread and sink. It left the hands shiny and greasy.

Effect on Skin: The skin felt soft and smooth, but not super moisturized or extra smooth. Now, as I used it as over night treatment, all covered with hand gloves, the results in the morning were not so bad. The warmth of the gloves pretty much helped me to get decent results.

Verdict: This is a product which I would not want to use as day time hand cream. It is greasy and shiny and does not gets absorbed completely, making it difficult to go back to doing your work after application.
As the name suggests, it is ALMOND MILK and BEE WAX, so obviously I was prepared for something thick and waxy. As an over night treatment, it is an OK product, but I have used better ones from Burt’s and Bees.

The cream is more like multi-purpose product and can be used on elbows or any dry spots or patches on hands and feet as well. The results I got from this product was not any different from what one can get from regular Vaseline or any thick creams.

I personally didn’t like the Almond smell, which was very synthetic and Plastic. Reminded me of Rancid Almond Oil. Its actually awful. A non fragnant product is better any day over these kind of annoying fragrances.

Packaging: This comes in a heavy glass jar, with screw top lid. I like the look of products packed in glass containers. They may not be very hygienic, but I love the old school packaging. It didn’t do much for me and I would choose other Burt Bee’s product over this one anyday.
