HANA - Shine Shield Thermal Protectant - Review

HANA - Shine Shield Thermal Protectant
HANA ShineShield is the latest product in a line committed to safe,
effective heat styling. ShineShield is a thermal serum that can be used as a
leave-in conditioner - lightweight and never greasy, it protects and strengthens
hair whether you use it with a flat iron, hair dryer or alone. ShineShield
contains the natural magic of Jojoba oil for its superb qualities of deep
moisturization, fast absorption into hair follicles and scalp, and unparalleled
shimmer & shine.

This was one product that was sent by Misikko along with the Flat Iron that I reviewed yesterday.
This is one of those silicone based hair protectant or serum. I have used Biosilk in the past and this has the same appearance, transparent glass like liquid. Hana Shine Shield is comparitively thinner in consistency which is a plus.

Now, my personal experience with majority of hair styling products is not very pleasant. They make my hair weigh down badly. As much as I would like them to work for me, they just leave my hair limp and gross. One major reason I curl or iron my hair on less heat is because I don't use protectant and I scare that using high heat of plain hair would damage them beyond repair.

I used this serum on may hair for reveiw purpose. It did give immense sheen to it, but weighed down my hair, not as bad as Biosilk and Beyond The Zone Turn Up The Heat Protection Spray that I got from Sallys. The best thing was it was not greasy, unlike Biosilk, which made my hair look drenched in oil. The consistency being on thinner side, this one spreads easily, so little less quantity is used. I am not the best person to give a correct idea about this product as its something not meant for my thin hair. I could just compare it to some of the other shine serums and protectants that I have used in past.
One con that I could say confidently is packaging. Any kind of serums that are slippery leaks, when not kept in upright position. This too did. I wish they came in bottles with leak proof cap or whatever they are called.

The company highlights a few features:

1. Lightweight leave-in conditioning therapy
2. Designed to protect and restore both hair and scalp from environmental and styling stress
3. Jojoba absorbs quickly without a greasy feel for thorough deep conditioning
4. Jojoba naturally dissolves soil, removing build-up from other styling products to leave hair clean & supple
5. Jojoba naturally excels at thickening keratin layers, bringing out your hair's natural color overtones, highlights and brilliance
6. Periodic use over time is proven to advance the quality of your hair & the health of your scalp

Just like Skin, everyone has different Hair texture. Obviously everything that works for me would not work for you and vice-versa.

Disclaimer: This product was sent to me by the company for review purposes.

  1. I tried this product and liked the shine factor very much; it's especially great if you're going to be taking pictures. However, the packaging is a problem.

  5. I actually enjoyed this product. My hair has a tendency to be too thick, too airy ,and too fluffy when I want it to be straight and flat. Hana shine shield tamed it a lot. This product did not make my hair feel oily, either!
